
Registering Your Residence as an EU Citizen in Poland
If you're a citizen of the European Union and plan to stay in Poland for more than 3 months, you are required to register your residence. This process is free of charge and must be done in person at the Voivodeship Office (Urząd Wojewódzki) corresponding to your place of residence.
📅 When Should I Register?
You must submit your application no later than the day after your third month in Poland.
For example, if you arrived on 1st January, your application should be submitted by 2nd April at the latest.
📄 Required Documents
- A completed application form (in Polish)
- A valid identity document (passport or national ID card)
- Four recent passport-size photos (35x45 mm, colour, light background)
- Proof of your reason for staying in Poland, depending on your situation:
- Employment: employment contract or employer’s statement
- Self-employment: business registration
- Studies: certificate of enrolment and proof of health insurance
- Sufficient financial means: bank statement and health insurance confirmation
🏢 Where to Apply
You must apply in person at the Voivodeship Office (Urząd Wojewódzki) in your region (e.g., in Warsaw: Mazowiecki Urząd Wojewódzki).
Many offices require booking an appointment online in advance.

The residence registration for EU citizens is free of charge.
📜 What Document Will I Receive?
If your application is approved, you will receive a Certificate of Registration of Residence of an EU Citizen ("Zaświadczenie o zarejestrowaniu pobytu obywatela UE"). This is your official confirmation of legal stay in Poland.
⚠️ What If I Don’t Register?
Failure to register your residence may result in a fine.
